Vizer Group has implemented Access Control and Video Surveillance systems in several universities in Colorado and Wyoming.

First University in Colorado to Utilize Biometrics to Gain Access to Dorm Rooms.

Denver, CO. — November 21, 2002 — All you need is your hand to gain access to your dormitory room at Johnson & Wales University Denver. Students no longer need to worry about lost keys or the fines associated with that housekeeping item. Students entering the Pulliam dorm need to slide their hand into the biometric hand reader and in less than a second, the door will open and they can enter the dorm. As they arrive on their specific floor, they need to slide their hand into the hand reader in the hall and their personal dorm room door will open.

Vizer Group has integrated Recognition Systems, Inc. (RSI) Hand Readers with access control systems to create a user-friendly and scalable system for the Denver campus. Of all the biometric technologies, hand geometry has the highest user acceptance rate. With the level of security, ease of use and non-threatening technology, hand geometry has become the most widely accepted biometric technology in use today. The hand geometry scanners capture 90 measurements of the hand within one second. Measurements include the length, width, thickness and surface area of the hand and four fingers. The University is using the Hand Key II for entrance access to the dormitories as well as access to individual rooms.

J.D. Sawyer, director of campus operations, said, "Our students' safety is our first priority and implementation of high-tech access to buildings was practical. Vizer Group understood the opportunity for more advanced security measures and installed the hand readers in record time." The system is also practical for a variety of reasons well beyond safety. The ability to provide 24-hour computer lab access, meal plan debiting, and library book checkout are among the many other applications for which we will use the hand scanners.

Scott Sutton, Chief Executive Officer of Vizer Group, stated, "We value the importance of integrating the latest technology to offer the best system for any situation. We understood the need to partner with Johnson & Wales in their efforts to secure their campus buildings along with their students and staff."
